Got Stained Coffee Mugs - Read this before you throw them away.

Put some baking soda and a little water in the mug and then use the paste as an abrasive.  Your cup will look good as new afterwards.
Baking soda is a non-toxic but still very effective mild abrasive.  It can be used on many things.
