Funerals and Robbers

An associate of mine just had her house robbed while she was attending a funeral for her sister, as if she did not have enough to deal with as it is.  There are lots of good people in this world but obviously there are some not so good ones too.  Please feel free to pass this warning on to all your friends and relatives.  There are predatory thieves out there who prey on those who are grieving over the loss of a loved one.  They read the obituaries looking for "opportunities."  The best way to protect yourselves from these types is to have a house sitter.  Find someone you can trust stay at the house.  This person can not only prevent a robbery but they can also give directions to the funeral.  Offer to video the funeral for them if he/she is someone who knew the deceased.  It's really sad that we have to worry about things like that but that's the way things are.

The Passing of Heather Groce - Crystal DiPietro's sister

One of my friends from Facebook's sister just died from a massive heart attack.  She was a big supporter of wilderness and saving the wonders of the desert. She will be missed but she has moved on to a better life.  I believe that God appreciates those of us who choose to be good stewards of the planet.
In lieu of flowers/cards please make a donation in the name of Heather Groce to the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance.  Go to the following link.

For BEST RESULTS, drink another cup in a half hour.

coming  down with a cold, cough, flu, virus etc.

Learning and Growing Despite Defeat

We've all had challenging situations that leave us feeling tired or discouraged. Here is something neat to ponder during those times. Take a look at this report and reflect on this man's record of failure. It is a testament to how humans can learn, grow, and win despite the losses and defeats.

Failed in business--------------1831
Defeated for legislature---------1832
Failed in business again---------1833
Elected to legislature-----------1834
Sweetheart died---------------1835
Nervous breakdown-------------1836
Defeated for speaker-----------1838
Defeated for land officer---------1843
Defeated for congress-----------1843
Elected to congress-------------1846
Defeated for re-election---------1848
Defeated for senate-------------1855
Defeated for vice president-------1856
Defeated for senate-------------1858
Elected President---------------1860

Who was this person? Abraham Lincoln.

He picked himself up no matter what and kept on going after his dream. He educated himself and did whatever it took to keep moving in the direction of his passions.

If you reflect back on your life, you can find patterns of the times you grew the most. Many of those times were probably a result of some kind of previous 'failure,' maybe even a series of them. Each failure is a learning experience.

With this in mind, choose the one thing that may not be going exactly as you wish right now and do one thing to move you closer to achieving the result you want. And remember, life is about learning and growing.

Pay It Forward

I think an individual's success is wasted if they don't take opportunities to pay it forward, so that the same opportunities that were afforded to them, are passed on.

It is Up to You

One of the first things successful people realize is the old adage, "If it is to be, it is up to me." That is, for you, the fact that your success and your course is up to you. This doesn't mean that you do it all alone. It simply means that you take responsibility for your life and your career.

Too many people today look at opportunity and figure it is up to someone else to make sure they get it. They look at financial security and hope that the government will make sure they live safely in retirement or in case of disability. They wait and wait, figuring that it is up to someone else. And then the wait is over, and it is too late to do anything. Their life is over and they are filled with regret.

This isn't true for you however. You know that you must take responsibility for your life. It is up to you.

The fact is that nobody else is going to do it for you ~ you must do it yourself.

Now, some people may say, "Jim, that's a lot of responsibility." Friends, that is the best news you can ever hear. You get to choose your life. Hundreds of millions of people all around this world would give anything to live in the situation you do - just for the chance to have the opportunity to take control of their destiny. "It is up to you" is a great blessing!

Here's why:

1. You get to chart your own destiny. Maybe you want to start a small business and stay there. That's great because you can choose that. Maybe you want to create a small chain of stores. Maybe you want to have a net worth of $100 million. That's okay too. The idea is that you get to choose. You can do whatever you like. Different people have different dreams and they should live them accordingly.

2. You can reap what you sow. Sleep in and go to work late and reap the return. Or get up early and outwork the others and earn a greater return. Place your capital at risk and earn a return - or place it at greater risk and perhaps reap a greater return. You decide what you will sow and thus what you will reap.

3. No one else can stop you from getting your dream. Yes, there will always be things that come up and people who may not like what you are doing, but you can just move on and chart your own course. There is great freedom in that.

4. You experience the joy of self-determination. There is no greater pride than knowing you set your mind on something and accomplished it. Those who live with a victim mentality never get to experience the joy of accomplishment because they are always waiting for someone else to come to the rescue. Those who take responsibility get to live the joy of seeing a job well done.

Let me ask you a question: Where will you be in five years? Ten years? Or 25 years? Do you know? Do you have an idea? Have you ever dreamed about it or set a goal for it? Are you willing to take responsibility and recognize that, "It is up to you?"

You will be wherever you decide to be in those timeframes. You decide. It is up to you.

And that is very exciting!

Versatile but tough cleaner, insect repellent, etc. YET NONTOXIC!

Housework is never fun, at least not to me.  I think anyone who enjoys it has something wrong with them.  Sometimes it has to be done, though.  It can be done effectively without the strong odors.  These strong odors are not only unpleasant but unhealthy to breathe.  Some people have the mindset that if it doesn't have the strong odors, it won't work.  That's not true.  I discovered a cleaner called Basic H early in the year 2010 and that is now one of my favorite cleaners.  It's effective and strong and yet only has a very mild but pleasant smell.  Take a look at the following.  That should give you an idea of what it can be used on.  It even works as an insect repellent.  It is non toxic.  Click the following pictures twice to view in a readable format.

I've put it to the test at a pizza place.  It works on pans that have pizza sauce baked on the sides with very little scrubbing.  It works on sausage grease from raw sausage.  It will remove stains left behind from the dyes in cake frosting.  I've even killed a cricket with it.
When used to clean out the coffee maker it will not leave an odor behind like vinegar does.  I know people who use it to wash their pets and remove fleas and ticks.
Would you like to try some?  Here's the link.
